So a wonderful couple made contact with me through my website. They asked if I could help them, they had recently moved into a bungalow and couldn’t work out what to do with the lounge.
The Living room
Their concerns were that it was very narrow in-front of the fireplace, they just didn’t know where to place the furniture. They wanted a clean but cosy atmosphere with seating they could relax in. So that was my outline brief.
We discussed colours, textures, privacy and light through the windows. We looked at the fireplace and agreed on how that change would affect the room. We had a discussion about wall colours and what effect that can have to space perception. So I then went away and produced and pulled together a scheme for my clients and they loved it.
The new living room
So by removing the block purple colour from the chimney breast and adding a softer muted texture paper it pushed the wall back and makes the room look wider. Toning in the wall colour to the paper and shutters gives warmth around the room without it feeling too enclosed.
My clients found that they usually couldn’t use the room on a warm sunny day as it became too hot. So we looked at alternative window treatments to see how we could make the room more liveable in all weather conditions.
So we decided on shutters.
So yes we know that the room has to be accessorised, my clients are still getting used to the changes that we have made. But I am happy to say they love it..
I would like to say what a joy it was to work with them and I am pleased that I could help them fall in love with their room.
Thank you to my wonderful trades that once again pulled it out the bag with their fantastic standards of workmanship, we couldn’t have achieved this without you.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog.
